The Real Deal

Yes, I really was in labor last night.
Violet Abigail H. was born this morning at 8:12. She is 21 inches long, 6 lbs 15 oz (!!!), and has a ton of dark hair. I will put up pictures later, when I get around to taking some (I know, I’m horrible). You’ll just have to [...]

Ouch.

The big question now is: Is it for real, or will it peter out and leave me exhausted for the day tomorrow?
All I know is that, if I’m not having a baby tonight/tomorrow, this is one heck of a pregame show.
Oh, and suddenly, I’m having a huge HOLY CRAP moment. I’m having a baby. [...]

Week 39–Perspectives

Awhile back, my mother commented to me about the fact that I had stopped posting regular pregnancy updates. There really has been a few reasons for this, but the main one had to do with what I had to say. You see, this being my fourth pregnancy, I don’t have the same wide-eyed wonderment that [...]

Invasion of the Hive People*

When I looked out my kitchen window this morning, this is what I saw walking up the hill:

I plan on going out later to check for crop circles in the corn field behind us.

*In case you are wondering, they came in peace. They even brought an offering of honeycomb from the now combined beehives, [...]

Still “The One”

Today, I celebrate ten years of marriage to my wonderful husband. Since we started dating five years before we got married, that means that I am getting ridiculously close to the point where I can say that he has been part of my life for as long as he hasn’t.

It’s [...]

I wish I could say that my lack of writing lately has been due to the laid-back, restful life that I am leading as I go through these last few weeks of gestating. You know, like how they tell working women to start maternity leave a couple of weeks before their due date so they [...]

Update on My Father-in-Law

First, thanks you to everyone who prayed for my father-in-law.
After running all of their tests on Friday and finding six blockages to his heart, the doctors decided that he was stable enough for them to play golf over the weekend for them to wait for an opening in the operating room today.
The nice thing about [...]

Progression of a Crappy Morning

I woke up this morning to a wonderful breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and eggs made by my husband and children. Nothing unusual about that—we usually do a big breakfast on Saturdays.
After breakfast, I took Eli out of his high chair and noticed that he was pretty much covered from head to toe in pancake batter. [...]

Prayers, Please

Sean’s dad (unbeknownst to us) has been having chest pains off and on over the past several months. They did a heart catheter on him this afternoon and found six blockages. I didn’t even know that you could have that many at  once. They are amazed that he hasn’t had a massive heart attack yet.
Tom [...]

Exhale.

Given how quiet it has been here over the past week or so, it would be easy to assume that I had fallen off of the face of the earth. Wishful thinking, I suppose, could conjure up thoughts of me going into labor and having the baby early (this is no longer an evil thought, [...]
