Yesterday was E’s first visit to the pediatrician. And he proved to be, well, one of our kids.
At birth, E~ measured in at 22 1/4 inches and nine pounds. If I remember correctly, I believe he was down to about 8 lbs 3 oz the last time they weighed him at the hospital. Based on prior experience, I know that they are looking to see babies back up to their birth weight by the two-week appointment.
So how did E~ do?
As of yesterday, he was 9 lbs 13 oz (yep, almost a pound above his birth weight), and measured in at 23 1/2 inches. OK, so that means either he was longer than they thought at birth (which was pretty freakin’ long), or they somehow screwed up yesterday. Or, that he has grown over an inch in two weeks (is that even remotely possible?). Regardless, there is absolutely no concern over whether or not he is growing adequately.
And the phrase of the day? “Like a two-month-old.” That is what the pediatrician said over and over.
“He’s as big as a two-month-old!”
“He’s sooo alert–like he was two months old!”
“I swear, this kid is just like a two-month-old!”
I can’t wait to hear what she has to say six weeks from now.
